Everybody should love bunnies. They are such endearing creatures to observe. This youngster was chomping grass at the edge of the lake at Trentham Lakeside Cafe, very close to the picnic tables.
Oryctolagus cuniculus was introduced by the Normans in the twelfth century as a high status food animal. The warreners (rabbit farmers) were often attached to manors where they reared rabbits in warrens (enclosed mounds) for the tables of the Lords and Nobles.
Rabbits are grassland animals, living in meadows or on the edges of woodland. The two main drawbacks of these animals are that they breed very rapidly, having few predators, and they cannot distinguish between wild food and cultivated crops. The latter makes them a pest to farmers.
As a biologist and wildlife enthusiast, I find them such charming animals. OK - this little fellow will grow into a big rabbit with a little less charm - if it learns to keep away from bigger animals like humans and foxes.

I love the bunnies. Your nature pics just keep getting better. You could theme them: furry, creepy, feathery, watery and other thingies.
Now you could turn all these pics into cards and sell them and the copyright would be all yours!
