In a recent trip to Strelley Woods (Oldmoor Wood) I spotted this little tree creeper (
Certhia familiaris) amongst the tree tops. I was quite pleased with this picture and my joy at seeing this bird was enhanced when a friend, Robert, spotted some birds behind a piece of peeling tree bark.
He beckoned me over to show me a bird in amongst the bark. This turned out to be an adult tree creeper and two chicks.
This mottled bird is unmistakable, being small and having a white underside and big feet, sporting a slightly down turned beak.
Nearby was another chick, frozen still, on a tree branch, just 10m from the other birds.
The young bird remained motionless, giving me an opportunity to take the best picture of the day. What a treat.

Paul, It was really a magic moment and for you to be on hand to take some pics was absolutely fantastic. I have been too busy since to write about the day (I will though). It was a great birthday day, albeit a week early. You and Rosie are always perfect company. I am blessed.
