Yesterday evening I was working in the greenhouse and I looked through the glass to see a young fox strolling down the side lawn. The fox walked across to the hedge and looked through to our neighbours garden. Where you would expect to see a bushy fox tail, the animal had a skinny whip like tail. The long hairs which characterise a foxes tail were missing completely, probably a genetic trait. I have names the fox pintail. It has now been seen taking food that our neighbours put out for the foxes each evening.
The vixens were howling last night. Perhaps a little breeding is afoot!
