Yesterday, it rained solidly all day, leaving the ground water-laidened, and filling the pond to overflowing. Overnight the temperature dropped considerably and the rain turned to snow.
This morning, the birds in the garden were eagar to feed, though they had to contend with a protective white blanket of snow and a lot of small droplets of ice.
This lone sparrow on the laurel was seen where normally I would expect to see twenty such birds. The rest of the flock were deep within the bush, out of the way of the cold breeze.
The top of the catmint pot, with its latice cover has collected a framework of snow overnight. The forcast is for improving weather and we are all looking forward to that!
