Getting warmer

This winter has been long and cold.  It has not snowed for over a week, and we still have snow on the ground.  However, yesterday the temperature was above freezing and today we had a relatively warm day.  Things are looking up.
The snow that we cleared from the drive has been melting slowly.  I have raked it out and broken it up to speed up the melt.  It is my hope that there will be no standing snow tomorrow.
With all of this good weather for a change, I decided to plant out the greenhouse.  We have had plants cluttering up the conservatory for weeks,  and now they are potted up and ready to grow on.  Last year I was rebuilding the greenhouse at this time, in short sleeved shirt and shorts, so the plants are no later going in this year.
We did have to go shopping.  Our electric kettle died.  The plastic strip across the lid was brittle and started breaking off into the kettle, so we went out to purchase a better model.  I was hoping to buy British, but all we could find were kettles made in China, not a UK model to be found.  We needed a kettle there and then, so we now have one that was made in China.  It is a sad reflection on the state of British industry having to sell out to consumer pressure.
