The bees are busy collecting nectar and pollen to see them through the winter.
Leaves are falling to the ground, though this year the fall is uneven and may trees have patched of green leaves mixed with patches of brown leaves.
Rose hips are abundant as the flowers fade.
Sulphur tufts are putting out fruiting bodies on old log piles.
Other gill fungi are breaking through the soil in the woodlands.
Stalked puffballs are appearing. These fungi are edible, but I have not cooked them before.
Monty Don announced on Gardeners World that Autumn is with us three weeks early this year. I trust Monty's judgement.......
