After we had done the pre-Christmas shopping, we had coffee at home the strolled through the City to Fenton Park. Stoke-on-Trent is a surprisingly green City and with a little local knowledge, many walks can be done away from the roads and the traffic.
Fenton Park is a typical Victorian park with sports facilities, gardens, lawns and trees. The six towns all have park facilities which are generally well maintained.
The walk back took us past some pleasing meadows and woodlands within the suburbs of Fenton and Longton. We passed the fishing pool on Fen Park - no fishermen out on this chilly day, just a few black headed gulls.
Admittedly, if you look over your shoulder, you can usually see the cityscape with its factories and warehouses, church spires and occasional bottle ovens. For much of the walk, the TV transmitter was visible on the horizon, making navigation easy.
Fish Pie for dinner. Yum!
