Christmas Fare

Christmas in lock down is a lone affair, so Rosie and I are catering for two throughout the season.  Breakfast was a simple Croissant and home made jam treat with coffee.
Rosie has decorated the Cake and we then had our morning treat of Hot chocolate and Christmas biscuits, then it's all about preparing dinner for 2 in our seasonal feast.
With the ingredients well sourced in advance I am baking chestnut roll in puff pastry. This requires prepared and cooked chestnuts puree and chopped mushrooms and onion with bread crumbs and garlic.  I made some Welsh Sunday Bread especially for the occasion and grated the crumb to leave a little texture in the finished dish.
Red Cabbage, Sprouts, stuffing balls and roast root vegetables cranberry and bread sauces accompany the festive roast along with a bottle of chianti classico and jokes from two of last years left over crackers.  Then it is a break to open Christmas presents before the pudding.
Rosies Christmas pudding with a twist of orange and brandy butter is the ideal accompaniment - followed by coffee and after eight chocolates and compulsory relaxation.  The TV saw a lot of service today.
Overnight, the fox camera was on, though the conditions were cold and humid, so its lens frosted up.  The image is not good, but we captured one fox on screen, a healthy and well fed individual, who seemed to by just passing through.

We shall miss our boxing day walk in the countryside this year.

Leftovers tomorrow!

Merry Christmas.
