First Frost

The first frost of the year has brought with it more birds to our feeders.  Goldfinches are regulars and they are always using the feeders at this time of year.
This blue tit is also a regular user and the tits generally sit in the trees and then rush and grab some food, returning quickly to the trees.
Starlings have been absent from the garden for many months, but now that the weather is cold, they are back with a vengeance.
The magpies have also spotted an opportunity and are grabbing it whilst it lasts.
And a rarely seen visitor, this tiny wren, is on the lookout for dormant small insects in the nooks and crannies around the garden.

The foxes had also polished the bowls of food clean and left no other trace.

Time to get the thicker socks out of the drawer!
