Cold and frosty morning

We awoke this morning to a frost and an air temperature of -4 degrees.  Not a cloud in the sky and no ice on the roads as it had been so dry over the past few days. A few chores and we went to Trentham Gardens for a coffee and a walk.

The gardens are in Winter trim, but the trees make the landscape very distinctive.

The lake is partially frozen and frosted on the surface of the ice. Bright sun is an issue and the morning shadows are long and clear.  Not ideal for photographing the landscape.
The picnic pods are closed and well frosted amongst the trees.
Out on the lakeside, we are usually looking out for the birds and beavers, but today the interest is in the frost and trees.

I rather like this photo, and seldom have a chance to take images with such a blue and clear sky.  By this time, the temperature has risen to -1 degrees so we are looking to enjoy the mid day heatwave which is promised to be above freezing.
