The new version of X-Plane has a new scenery engine which is able to generate 3D clouds and has an improved ground texture for scenery and airfields. Seasonal changes and wind affected trees are all part of the new system.
Grass airfields now look as if they have been mown and they also look weathered and well used. The horizon is more realistic and water has become reflective with the reflections changing as ripples and waves appear due to wind action.
The Shetland Islands look more like the Shetland Islands than they used to in the earlier versions of the simulator.
Puddles can be seen when it has been raining, and the clouds look like real clouds.Even the cities look like they should do. I like this sim.
X-Plane 12 is still in beta testing, but it is due to be released in December.
